As an Indigenous social worker, Kyla is passionate about providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and holistic care. She recognizes that mental health does not exist separately from family, community, culture, relationships, identity, spirituality, and lived experience. Her work honours the knowledge, strengths, resilience, and experiences that each person already carries.
Kyla works with children, teens, adults, couples, families, and seniors, supporting concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, addictions, grief and loss, emotional regulation, stress and burnout, self-esteem, relationships, family challenges, parenting, and major life transitions. She also has a particular interest in Indigenous mental health and wellness.
Her approach is primarily client-centred, relational, trauma-informed, strength-based, culturally responsive, and holistic. Kyla incorporates Indigenous perspectives into her work when appropriate and meaningful to the client, while continuing to expand her training in additional therapeutic modalities.
Clients can expect Kyla to be warm, conversational, compassionate, collaborative, practical, and genuine. She believes counselling can include difficult and meaningful conversations while still making room for humour, connection, and simply being human.
At the heart of Kyla’s work is the belief that people are more than the challenges they are facing. She strives to create a therapeutic relationship where clients feel respected, understood, and supported as they explore their experiences, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward greater wellness in a way that feels authentic to them.
Kyla has insurance coverage with Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB).
